Program Details

Ever wanted to create a tiny tree while sipping on a cold craft beer? Well, now’s your chance! Bonsai & Barrier Brewery is not your average night out—it’s a hands-on, drink-in-hand workshop, held in our beautiful greenhouse, where you’ll learn the ancient Japanese art of bonsai while tasting delicious local brews.

Whether you’re a plant killer (we won’t judge), a bonsai newbie, or a beer-loving botanist, this event is designed for fun, creativity, and a bit of history and learning!

  • WHEN: 7pm–10pm on Friday, May 9, 2025
  • WHERE: Queens County Farm Museum, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway, Floral Park, NY 11004
  • LOCATION:  Greenhouse Complex
  • TICKETS: $110 General Admission (ages 21+)

Chris Hayes is a bonsai artist, educator, and co-owner of Long Island Bonsai Supply in Dix Hills. With over 150 trees in his personal collection, he understands the magic of bonsai—where patience and creativity transform ordinary plants into living sculptures. The thrill of guiding a tree’s shape, each Bonsai's story is written in its leaves and branches. For Chris, the greatest reward is helping others to write their own.

Located just outside of Queens in sunny Oceanside, NY, Barrier Brewery Co. is proud to be Nassau County's first craft brewery, now celebrating 16 years of brewing excellence.
