This parent-child program will teach fledgling gardeners to plant, grow, and harvest vegetables, herbs, and flowers outdoors in our new Edible Teaching Garden. No two workshops are the same as we care for plants in our raised beds, learn about colonial and regenerative farming, sample fresh vegetables and learn how to incorporate more produce in our diets. Parent-child learning duos will discover something new in each session and bring items home after each workshop, such as plants or produce harvests! Guests can also enjoy a self-guided tour around the farm to visit the animals and take a farmhouse tour (weekends between the hours of 11am-4pm) after the workshop.

  • Advance online tickets are required as capacity is limited. Email confirmation will automatically be sent to you upon completion of purchase.
  • This class is part of the Public Education Program at Queens Farm and is intended for child & parent learning duos. This is not a drop-off program; children aged 5-10 must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian. One ticket covers one child plus one adult; an additional child can be added for a fee.
  • We recommend guests bring water and sun protection, and wear comfortable boots or sneakers that can get wet/dirty.
  • Guests should arrive as early as 9:20am, but no later than 9:40am. Workshops begin promptly at 9:30am. Meet at the Edible Teaching Garden by proceeding down the main path and turning right before the Pavilion. Maps are available in the Farm Store upon arrival.
  • Event dates are Tues, 4/23; Wed, 4/24; Thurs, 4/25; Fri, 4/26; Sat, 5/4; Sun, 5/5; Sat, 5/18; Sun, 5/19; Sat, 5/25; Sun, 5/26.
  • Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Farm members are eligible for 15% off this program. Select “I have a membership” during checkout to apply discount.
  • Free parking available in our lot (2nd gate along Little Neck Parkway). Local street parking and bicycle racks also available.
  • Farm grounds and restrooms are accessible.
  • Backpacks and bottled water are permitted on our grounds. No designated storage or bag check available.
  • This program will be moved indoors for rain.

All sales are final. Tickets cannot be replaced or transferred. If event is canceled by Queens Farm for any reason, Queens Farm will administer full refunds. Programming will move indoors for inclement weather. If severe/hazardous weather is forecasted, updates will be emailed to ticket holders, posted at queensfarm.org and shared on social media.

Purchase Protection is available for an additional cost; this service provides ticket holders with a full refund in case they are not able to attend the event due to unforeseen circumstances.

By entering an event or program at Queens County Farm Museum, you are entering an area where photography, audio and video recording may occur.

By entering the event premises, you waive and release any claims you may have related to the use of recorded media of you at the event, including, without limitation, any right to inspect or approve the photo, video or audio recording of you, any claims for invasion of privacy, violation of the right of publicity, defamation, and copyright infringement or for any fees for use of such record media.

You understand that all photography, filming and/or recording will be done in reliance on this consent. If you do not agree to the foregoing, please do not enter the event premises.
Queens Farm is smoke-free. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises.
Do not pick produce, or flowers, walk into growing fields or climb trees.
For the health of our livestock, please do not feed animals anything except food for sale on site.
Pets are not allowed, for the safety of the farm animals and visitors. Service animals are permitted as described by the ADA.
Queens Farm is home to a variety of livestock including hens, steer, alpacas, sheep, goats and pigs, who live in designated coops and paddocks on the farm. Guests are required to remain outside of fenced areas at all times during their visit.
Our 47 acres of grounds contain wooded areas, which are home to local wildlife. Do not feed or approach any animals you may encounter in their natural habitat.
Strollers, backpacks, and bottled water are permitted on the grounds. No designated storage for strollers, bags, or coats.
For the safety of our staff and visitors, there is no bicycling, rollerblading or electric scootering is allowed on-site. Bicycle racks are available on-site.
Casual visitor photography is permitted, however staged photos, photo shoots and commercial photography requires a farm issued permit and payment of applicable fees.
